5 Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website – TechSpective

If you run a business or work for a marketing department, you understand how challenging it can be to get the right potential customers to visit your website. If you are struggling with getting traction on your company’s or product’s site, here are some things you can do to increase visits.

1. Start a Blog

If you don’t already have a blog on your site, now is the time to start one. Blogs not only SEO well because they typically lack “bells and whistles” and are just pure, keyword-heavy content, but they are also a great place to show that your company is a thought leader in your field. Be sure not to use your blog solely for advertising, though. Think of topics related to your field and write about them. Did your company just adopt 5G network architecture? Write a blog about that process that explains the steps you took to get there and also nonchalantly lets your customers know that you are ahead of the curve.

2. Answer Questions in Forums

Seemingly thousands of online forums exist where people ask questions about all sorts of things, and you may be lucky enough to find a question that your company or product can solve if you take the time to look. Find places where you can provide a helpful answer—be it a product recommendation or simply an answer unrelated to your company to prove that you are helpful thought leaders. This is called “social listening” and is an easy way to find people who your product can help and point them in the direction of your website.

3. Host a Webinar

If you have the resources available and expertise in a certain subject, host a webinar for current customers and potentials. Ask your customers to invite friends and colleagues so you get more traction. Be careful not to make the session too much of a sales pitch, though. Spend most of the time teaching helpful things to your audience so they don’t get bored and leave. Showing that you respect their time by teaching them something useful will make your audience much more interested in your brand. The major benefit of a webinar is that typically, all audience members will have to visit your website to sign up for the webinar, and if you’re lucky, they will shop around your site after signing up or after the webinar concludes if they were happy with the presentation.

4. Pay for Ads

If your marketing and advertising budget allows, run some paid ad campaigns and watch your traffic grow. You can do this on popular search engines and also on most social media sites. You can also choose to narrow your target list down by categories like interest and location, which is important if you only sell in the U.S., for example. Before you begin, take the time to perform keyword research so you can make sure you’re using the same keywords that your competitors are using in their ads. You also don’t want to waste time and money advertising to someone who is not and will never become a customer, so targeting your ad to a specific interest (for example, technology) will help ensure that your content doesn’t get wasted on the wrong people.

5. Refresh Content on Your Website

Little is more off-putting to a potential customer than a website with information that is incorrect or out of date. Spend the time to occasionally run a website audit to ensure everything is correct and the site is running well. Find a tool to check for broken links and also run a website speed test. If a customer clicks on a link that returns an error, it is likely they will become frustrated and leave the site instead of venturing further in. Don’t scare your customers away with a website that needs updates.

Getting traffic to your website can be a challenge. Follow some of these tips and you’ll hopefully see your traffic increase exponentially.
