Malouf amps up its IT department with 2 key executives – Furniture Today

LOGAN, Utah – Malouf has expanded its software development team by adding two experienced executives to help the company’s retail partners with additional technical support.

Phil Dutson has been named director of web development, and Casey Doolittle is the new director of software engineering. Dutson and Doolittle will work together to offer broader technical support to Malouf’s retail partners.

Doolittle oversees the software engineering team and is responsible for managing Malouf’s internal software programs that helps manage shipping, customer relations, inventory and warehouse management, supply chain/purchasing management and accounts receivable.

Doolittle was previously a software developer at a fitness retailer for 15 years. Before that, he held several highly specialized positions in the tech industry, including technical editor at Pearson and communications technician for the United States Marine Corps. Doolittle was also an adjunct professor and acting department head of computer science at Stevens-Henager College.

Dutson leads Malouf’s web development team. The department oversees the operations of the  Wholesale Resource Center, as well as product websites like maloufhome.com, weekenderbedding.com and saltflathome.com. He works closely with each team member and educates them on best practices.

Dutson has more than 15 years of experience in web development and is familiar with a myriad of development strategies, methods and principles. Dutson has also written several technical books that have been translated into more than five languages. Prior to Malouf, he spent seven years as a solution architect for a consumer wellness brand.

Throughout my 25-year career in the home furnishings industry, I have been an editor with a number of industry publications and spent a brief stint with a public relations agency where I worked with some of the industry’s leading bedding brands. I rejoined Furniture Today in December 2020 with a focus on bedding and sleep products. It’s a homecoming for me, as I was a writer and editor with Furniture Today from 1994 until 2002. I’m happy to be back and look forward to telling the important stories impacting bedding retailers and manufacturers.
